Crane’s new B2B Office Supplies site launched

Crane is proud to announce the release of it’s new business-to-business online ordering website.

Our new site is an updated version of our previous B2B ProLink web page.

What does our new site have to offer?

We have designed the site so that, once you have placed your first order, menu options including ‘Your Favourite Products’, ‘Order from Previous Order’ and ‘Order Tracking’ will automatically populate making it even easier for you to use when you next visit us.

There are features to compare products and to create your own templates of product assortments.

A ‘green’ search facility is available too, with all environmentally friendly products categorised by their green accreditation.

If you have have agreed a contract price or a special discount these will automatically be loaded onto your account too.

Although, we hope, we have designed the Crane site so that it is as easy to use as possible. We appreciate that even the simplest site takes a while to get used to when you use it for the first time.

Guide To Green Office Supplies Labels

When you buy your office supplies you may have become aware of various labels that accompany them.

Here you will find a short summary of what each one is and what environmental benefits go with them.

Ethical Tea Partnership – All Tea holding this label has been produced in a socially responsible way buy monitoring working and living conditions in tea estates around the world.

The tea market is a massive business globally and the ethical tea partnership makes sure the livelihood of the people producing it is of a suitable quality

Enviro Benefit – Anything carrying this label is identifying itself as being made partly or fully of recycled materials. Along with this label you should find information about the percentage of recycled materials used.
Eu Eco-Label – Taking in various factors during the distribution, manufacture and disposal of a product, the EU Eco-Label indicates that this product has meets the strict analysis on its impact on the environment. This criteria is set by the European Union

The logo is designed to make it easier to identify green products.

Fairtrade Foundation – Many people will now be familiar with the fair trade logo, which can be found on large variety of products in your local supermarket.A more ethical approach to conventional trade, the Fairtrade Foundation aims to produce a more sustainable lively hood to farmers and workers from poor or developing countries.

The fair-trade foundation is the UK leading authority on fair-trade.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) - This label applies to both timber and paper products. The FSC is an independent organization whose aim is to promote responsible management of forests throughout the world.

An FSC label indicates that the forestry operation which have been used has been monitored and will not allow the use of hazardous pesticides, cultivation of GM (genetically modifies) trees, and respect the rights of indigenous people from around the world. Timber is tracked from supply to the end product to ensure that the customer can chose a sustainably harvested wood paper product.

Nordic Swan – The Nordic Swan ecolabel is the official label introduced by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Covering 67 products groups the Nordic Swan ecolabel demonstrates that that particular product is a good quality environmental choice. All products must be environmentally sound during the life cycle of the product and this includes having no hazardous chemicals and metals used.
Blue Angel – Products bearing the blue angel label are certified to show that the product has environmentally friendly aspects.The first of the worldwide Ecolabels, introduced in Germany in 1978, the key aim is to inform the buyer about environmentally products.
Green Dragon – The Green Dragon Environmental Standard is the official name if a company’s environmental management system abides by legislation and protecting the environment . The Green Dragon Environmental Standard is credited at 5 levels with each level indication a continued improvement in controlling and protecting the environment.
TCO – The TCO Development label signifies that a product has met requirements on either ergonomics, emissions, energy, and ecology on office equipment.
The Green Dot (Der Grüne Punkt) – The Green Dot symbol can be found on packaging to signify that the producer of the packaging has made a contribution to the recycling of the packaging.
